My Monopoly® Page
When I was a kid I played Monopoly® with some of the kids in the neighborhood. Later I bought my own set (a now well worn 50th anniversary edition) with my own money! (quite a feat for a twelve-year-old) I am so proud of that set. I wanted the one in the tin but I didn't have enough money so I bought the one in the cardboard box. I now have a tin thanks to my wonderful in-laws!
The best games I ever played were with my friend Maria in the backyard of my parents house. We made up our own rules and I added a ton of money to the game to accommodate inflation :) I always loved the game although I really didn't have many friends to play with so I ended up playing alone a lot and using my teddy bears as opponents.
After a while I forgot about playing games and it wasn't until I met my husband that I rekindled my love of Monopoly® It started innocently enough with a new game for Christmas. Then I got a Monopoly® watch. Next came the sweatshirt and some Rich Uncle Pennybags earrings (I will never understand the switch to "Mr. Monopoly") I was hooked! I have spent the last couple of years trying to seriously augment my collection and now I am dedicating this space to it. Affectionately dubbed "the shrine" in our old house, we are expanding the collection and dedicating a room in our new house to it. (As I've unpacked it seems I may overflow even this bigger space *eek*)
This will probably be a work in progress for a very long time as I am not the best at web page making or digital photo taking but I will try my best :) My most prized pieces are the Department 56 houses that my husband's parents gave me for our anniversary last year.
P.S. Those nice people at Hasbro are the true Monopoly® trademark owners and I would never propose that I am so brilliant or creative to have come up with any of their stuff! This is just my way of telling the world how much I love Monopoly®
